Reaction Steps

To a stirred solution of 3.6 g (30 mmol) of cyclosporin A in 100 ml tetrahydrofuran were added 1.5 equivalents of acetic anhydride, 1.5 equivalents of triethylamine, and 0.3 g of dimethylaminopyridine. The mixture was refluxed for 18 hours. The solvent was evaporated under reduced pressure and the residue was dissolved in ethyl acetate, washed sequentially with 1N hydrochloric acid solution, water, dried over MgSO4 and evaporated. The crude product was chromatographed to give a title compound of 3.2 g.
