Beginning with 0.24 gm (0.95 mmol) 5-fluoro-6-chloro-7-bromobenzofuran and 0.09 gm (0.95 mmol) 2(R)-methylpiperazine, the title compound was prepared essentially as described in GENERAL PROCEDURE IV.
