A solution of 1-[2-(6,6-dimethylbicyclo[3.1.1]heptan-2-yl)ethyl]imidazole (0.8 g, 3.67 mmol) in hot ethanol (20 ml) was added to a solution of fumaric acid (0.39 g, 3.36 mmol) in hot ethanol (20 ml). After boiling for 0.15 h, the mixture was concentrated to afford a white solid. Recrystallisation of the solid from ethyl acetate afforded 1-[2-(6,6-dimethylbicyclo[3.1.1]heptan-2-yl)ethyl]imidazole hydrogen fumarate, m.p. 100°-102°.
