Procedure
A mixture of N-(4-chlorobenzyl)-8-fluoro-1,4-dihydro-6-(3-hydroxy-1-propynyl)-1-methyl-4-oxo-3-quinolinecarboxamide from Example No. 8 (0.200 g) and Pd/C (10%, 0.040 g) in MeOH (10 mL) and CH2Cl2 (10 mL) is placed on a Parr shaker under 50 psi of H2 for 6 h. The reaction mixture is filtered through Celite and concentrated in vacuo. Recrystallization from EtOAc gave the title compound as a solid.
