Potassium bis(trimethylsilyl)amide (176 mg, 0.88 mmol) was added to a stirred suspension of the title compound of Example 26 (100 mg, 0.17 mmol) in 3-hydroxymethylfuran (4 ml) and the reaction mixture heated under reflux for 24 hours then allowed to cool. The resulting mixture was evaporated under reduced pressure and the residue purified by column chromatography on silica gel, using dichloromethane: methanol (95:5) as eluant, to furnish the title compound (33 mg, 31%) as a pale yellow foam. δ (CDCl3): 0.93 (3H,t), 1.04 (3H,t), 1.72 (2H,m), 2.41 (2H,q), 2.55 (4H,m), 2.99 (2H,t), 3.14 (4H,m), 5.63 (2H,s), 5.68 (2H,s), 6.60 (1H,s), 7.09 (1H,d), 7.22 (1H,m), 7.44 (1H,s), 7.64 (2H,m), 8.57 (1H,d), 8.68 (1H,s), 9.02 (1H,s), 10.53 (1H,s). LRMS: m/z 619 (M+1)+.
