Procedure

The 4-[4-(t-butyl)phenylthio]benzaldehyde (1.5 g, 5.5 mmol) was coupled with rhodanine (0.87 g, 6.5 mmol) in the presence of sodium acetate (1.64 g, 20 mmol) and acetic acid (80 ml) essentially as previously described to yield 1.1 grams (52.3%) of the title product.
