Reaction Steps

A suspension of 3-chloro-2-(2-fluoro-4-butyloxycarbonylmethoxy-5-nitrophenyl)-4,5,6,7-tetrahydro-2H-indazole (10 g) and iron powders (10 g) in acetic acid was refluxed for 5 hours. After completion of the reaction, the reaction mixture was filtered by the use of celite, and the filtrate was combined with water and extracted with ethyl acetate. The organic layer was concentrated, and the residue was purified by column chromatography using a mixture of hexane and ethyl acetate as an eluent to give 3-chloro-2-[7-fluoro-2H-1,4-benzoxazin-3(4H)-on-6-yl]-4,5,6,7-tetrahydro-2H-indazole (6.2 g). nD29.0 1.5628.
