5.0 g 1,2-epoxy-3-(3-phenyl-3,4-dihydro-2H-1-benzopyrane-7-yloxy)-propane and 2.5 cm3 2-propylamine were boiled in 40 cm3 ethanol for 2 hours. After evaporating the mixture and triturating the residue with water, the base 1-(3-phenyl-3,4-dihydro-2H-1-benzopyrane-7-yloxy)-3-(1-methylethylamino)-2-propanol was obtained, from which forming salt following the process of example 5 (a) 5.5 g of the maleate was obtained (m.p. 171°-173° C.).
