Reaction Steps
(3S,4S)-3-benzyloxycarbonylamino-4-acetoxy-azetidin-2-one (2.00 g, 7.188 mmole) was hydrogenated with 2 g of 10% palladium on activated carbon in ethyl acetate (50 ml) at 50 psi hydrogen pressure at room temperature for 1.5 hrs. After removal of catalyst by filtration, the deproteced (3S,4S)-3-amino-4-acetoxy-azetidin-2-one in ethyl acetate was obtained.
