Reaction Steps

The procedure of Example 3 is repeated using 1.0 g of α-(3-chloropropyl)-3,4-dimethoxy-α-[(4-methylphenyl)thio]benzeneacetonitrile and 0.76 g of 1-methyl-6,7-dihydroxy-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroisoquinoline. This affords 0.253 g of the desired product as a beige gum.
