0.2 g of sodium hydride as a 60% dispersion in oil is added in portions to a solution of 1 g of 5-ethoxy-1,3-dihydro-3-(1,1,3,3-tetramethylbutyl)-2H- benzimidazol-2-one in 10 ml of THF and 20 ml of DMF and the mixture is stirred for 30 minutes at RT. 1.2 g of 2-methoxy-4-nitrobenzenesulfonyl chloride are then added and the mixture is stirred for 5 hours at RT. The reaction mixture is poured into 200 ml of water, extracted with AcOEt, washed with water and dried over Na2SO4 and the solvent is evaporated off under vacuum to give 1.1 g of the expected product after crystallization from iso ether. M.p.=158° C.
