3-(3,4-Dichlorophenyl)-3-(2-methyl-3-oxo-2,3-dihydro-5-methoxy-1H-isoindol-1-yl)propionaldehyde (0.38 g) was coupled to 4-(2-methylsulfinylphenyl)piperidine (0.29 g) by a method similar to that described in Example 8. The reaction product was purified by chromatography and converted to the corresponding hydrochloride salt as described in Example 8 to afford the title compound (0.447 g); mp 155°-178° C. (d); MS: m/z=585(M+1); NMR(CD3OD): 2.0-2.3 (m,4), 2.6 (m,2), 2.8-3.0 (m,3), 3.0-3.3 (m,7), 3.5-3.8 (m,4), 3.85 (s,3) 4.8 (d,1, J=4), 6.7-7.3 (m,5), 7.5-8.0 (m,5). Analysis for C31H34Cl2N2O3S.HCl.1.5 H2O: Calculated: C, 59.86; H, 5.67, N, 4.50; Found: C, 57.05; H, 5.64; N, 4.19.
