Reaction Steps

To a mixture of 0.5g of N-acetyl-S-methyl-N'-nitroisothiourea and 5ml of acetonitrile was dropwise added a solution of 0.44g of 5-(aminomethyl)-2-chloropyridine in 3ml of acetonitrile under ice-cooling, followed by stirring for 30 minutes under ice-cooling. The reaction mixture was concentrated and the residue was recrystallized from ethanol to afford 0.59g of N-acetyl-N'-(6-chloro-3-pyridylmethyl)-N"-nitroguanidine (Compound No. 42) as white crystals.
