Procedure
5 g of Raney nickel are added to a solution of 33.1 g (0.132 mol) of 1-(4-chloro-phenyl)-4,4,5-trimethyl-1-hexen-3-one in 200 ml of toluene and the mixture is stirred in an autoclave for 5 hours at 80° C. under a hydrogen pressure of 80-100 bar. After this, the reaction mixture is filtered and concentrated under reduced pressure. 28.3 g (85% of theory) of 1-(4-chlorophenyl)-4,4,5-trimethyl-hexan-3-one are obtained in the form of a yellow oil. ##STR23##
