A stirred mixture of 6-(4-aminophenyl)-5-methyl-4,5-dihydro-3(2H)-pyridazinone (2.6 g) and 6-methyl-2-methylthiopyrimidin-4-one (3 g) in dry pyridine (40 ml) was heated under reflux for 72 hours. The volume was reduced by evaporation and the crude product (3.16 g) was collected and washed with ethanol. Recrystallisation twice from dimethylformamide gave the title compound (1.39 g), m.p. 314°-318° C. (dec).
