Procedure
A solution of acetophenone (130 ml), 2-chloroaniline (130 ml) and benzene (200 ml) was refluxed in the presence of molecular sieve with continuous removal of water. o-Chloro-N-(α-methyl benzylidene) aniline (XXI) was obtained by fractional distillation. XXI had a boiling point of 111° C. at 0.1 millimeter.
