In 20 ml of ethanol was dissolved 162 mg of 2-Benzyloxy-3-hexadecyloxypropyl 1,1-dimethylpyrrolidinio-2-ylmethyl phosphate prepared in Example 7, and 20 mg of palladium(5%)-carbon (catalyst) was added to the resulting solution. The mixture was stirred overnight at 50° C. in a stream of hydrogen. The reaction liquid was cooled, and the catalyst was removed by filtration. The filtrate was concentrated under reduced pressure to give 111 mg of 3-hexadecyloxy-2-hydroxypropyl 1,1-dimethylpyrrolidinio-2-ylmethyl phosphate.
