2-n-Butyl-2-hydroxymethyl-propan-1,3-diol and 2-n-pentyl-2-hydroxymethyl-propan-1,3-diol were prepared from n-hexanal and n-heptanal respectively in a manner analogous to that described for the synthesis of 2-n-propyl-2-hydroxymethyl-propan-1,3-diol.
