44 mg of 2',3',5'-tri-O-acetyl-3-β-D-ribofuranosyl-2-oxo-7-chloropyrido[2,3-d]pyrimidine (c) was dissolved in 1 ml of methylene chloride and 10 ml of ammonia saturated methanol was added thereto. The mixture was made to undergo a reaction at room temperature for 12 hours. Thereafter, the reaction mixture was concentrated at reduced pressure and the residue was recrystallized in an ethanol-water system to give 26 mg of 3-β-D-ribofuranosyl-2-oxo-7-chloropyrido[2,3-d]pyrimidine (d).
