20.0g (77.8 mmol) of (R)-N,N-dimethyl-1-ferrocenyl-ethylamine was added under argon atmosphere to a glass vessel (atmospheric pressure use only) with an agitator and dissolved in acetone 37 ml. After cooling with ice water, methyl iodide 21 ml (337 mmol) was added to the vessel and reacted for 15 minutes under cooling with ice water. After reaction, ethylether 160 ml was added to the vessel and crystals were deposited. The crystals were collected by filtration to obtain (R)-N,N,N-trimethyl-1-ferrocenylethylammonium iodide 31.0 g (77.8 mmol)(yield: 100%).
