5.0 g of 5-tert-butylaminocarbonyl-3-methylisoxazole-4-carboxylic acid are dissolved in 200 ml of methanol, and 5 ml of concentrated H2SO4 are added. After 2 days, the mixture is evaporated down, the residue is partitioned between ethyl acetate and water and the organic phase is evaporated down. 4.0 g of methyl 5-tert-butylaminocarbonyl-3-methylisoxazole-4-carboxylate are obtained as a colorless oil (compound No. 1007).
