Procedure

Three and three-tenths grams of the free base of Example 69 and 10 ml of acetic anhydride were added to 5 ml of pyridine, and the mixture then refluxed for 15 minutes. The volatiles were removed in vacuo and the residue partitioned between 100 ml of dichloromethane and 100 ml of saturated NaHCO3 solution. The dichloromethane layer was dried over MgSO4. The dichloromethane solution was heated to boiling and hexane added until turbidity resulted (about 300 ml). The mixture was then cooled at -10° C. The precipitate of the title compound was collected, washed with hexane, and dried; yield, 1.9 grams; mp 128° C.-129° C.
