A solution of 430 mg of methyl(E)-3-{3-butoxy-4-[6-(1-methyl-3-pentylureido)pyrid-2-yl]phenyl}acrylate in 5 mL of methanol is stirred for 3 hours at room temperature in the presence of 100 mg of palladium-on-charcoal, under a hydrogen atmosphere. After filtering off the palladium and evaporating off the solvents, 370 mg of methyl 3-{3-butoxy-4-[6-(1-methyl-3-pentylureido)pyrid-2-yl]phenyl}propionate are obtained. Yield=86%.
