Reaction Steps

A solution of 1.0 g of methyl(E)-3-{4-[6-(tert-butoxycarbonylmethylamino)pyrid-2-yl]-3-ethoxyphenyl}acrylate in 10 mL of methanol is stirred for 3 hours at room temperature in the presence of 200 mg of 10% palladium-on-charcoal under a hydrogen atmosphere. After filtering off the palladium and evaporating off the solvents, 1.0 g of methyl 3-{4-[6-(tert-butoxycarbonylmethylamino)pyrid-2-yl]-3-ethoxyphenyl}propionate is obtained. Yield=100%.
