A mixture of the compound obtained in Step A (195 mmoles) and ethyl hydrazinecarboxylate (224 mmoles) in ethanol is stirred at reflux for 18 hours. The reaction mixture is cooled to 0° C. and the precipitate formed is filtered off, washed with ethyl ether and dried, in vacuo to yield the title product, which is used directly in the next Step.
