A solution of the flavone 8 (0.07 g, 0.2 mmol) in dioxane (10 ml) was hydrogenated at 40 psi in the presence of 5% palladium on charcoal (20 mg) for 8 h and the catalyst was filtered off. Dioxane was removed from the filtrate under reduced pressure to give 10a (0.05 g, 87%). 1H NMR (400 MHz, CDCl3) δ 3.98 (s, 3H), 3.94 (s, 3M), 3.95 (s, 3H), 6.45 (s, 1H), 6.71 (d, J=8.8 Hz, 2H), 6.75 (s, 1H), 7.65 (d, J=8.8 Hz, 2H).
