5N NaOH aqueous solution (6 ml) was added to the solution of methyl 3-methyl-1-phenyl-1H-indazole-5-carboxylate (2.66 g) in methanol 30 ml and stirred at 50° C. for over night. The cooled reaction mixture was quenched with 1N HCl aqueous solution (33 ml) and white precipitate was collected and dried in vacuo at 60° C. to give the title compound as a colorless solid
