A solution of 5-(8-chloro-3-ethyl-2,6-dioxo-2,3,6,7-tetrahydro-1H-purin-1-yl)pentanoic acid (0.05 g, 0.16 mmol) in DMSO (1 ml) was treated with CDl (0.029 g, 0.18 mmol) and the mixture stirred at room temperature for 1 h. Subsequently, the mixture was treated with 2,4-difluorobenzamidoxime (0.03 g, 0.18 mmol) and then heated to 120° C. for 30 min. The product was purified from the crude mixture using MDAP. Product-containing fractions were evaporated using a stream of nitrogen and the resulting colourless gum triturated in ether and dried to reveal the title compound as a white solid (50 mg, 70%).
