Procedure
5.0 g (0.0174 mol) of 11-chloroacetyl-5,6-dihydropyrimido[4,5-b][1,5]benzodiazepin-5-one are added at 10° C. to 150 ml of a saturated solution of dimethylamine in absolute ethanol, the mixture is stirred for a further 15 minutes at the same temperature and the volatile constituents are then removed on a rotary evaporator. 50 ml of saturated sodium bicarbonate solution are added to the residue, the mixture is extracted several times with chloroform and the organic phase is dried and concentrated. The residue is recrystallized from 6:4 ethyl acetate/methylene chloride; yield: 2.2 g, m.p. 208° to 210° C.
