Reaction Steps

A solution of 2,2-diphenylethylamine (2.0 g, 10.1 mmol) in 15 ml of N,N-dimethylformamide (DMF) was cooled to 0° C. and treated with 2-chlorophenyl isocyanate (1.46 g, 12.2 mmol) under nitrogen (N2). The reaction solution was stirred at room temperature for 15 minutes and partitioned between ethyl acetate (EtOAc) and water (H2O). The organic layer was washed with sodium bicarbonate (NaHCO3) and brine, dried over sodium sulfate (Na2SO4), filtered and concentrated in vacuo to provide a white solid.
