To a solution of 3 g of the product of Step 2 in 30 mL of pyridine is added 8.7 g of I2. The mixture is stirred for 24 h and then diluted with 200 mlL of Et2O, washed with 100 mL of 5N HCl and 50 mL of 5N Na2S2O3. The Et2O layer is dried over Na2SO4 and concentrated to give the title compound.
