Procedure

A solution of Example 311 Part D free amine (300 mg, 0.61 mmol) in 12 ml of methanol was cooled to 0° C. under an argon atmosphere and 2 equiv. of sodium borohydride (48.5 mg, 1.28 mmol) was added. The reaction mixture was stirred at 0° C. for 45 min. The reaction was quenched with 1 N hydrochloric acid and extracted with ethyl acetate (3×20 ml). The extract was washed with brine and dried over sodium sulfate. Evaporation yielded an oily residue which was dissolved in dichloromethane, dried over sodium sulfate and evaporated to yield 550 mg of a colorless solid. The crude product was purified on a Merck EM silica column eluting with 5% methanol/dichloromethane yielding 290 mg (96%) of title compound as colorless solid.
