Procedure

174 mg (0.5 mmol) of ethyl 1-(1-chloroprop-2-yl)-6,7,8-trifluoro-1,4-dihydro-4-oxoquinoline-3-carboxylate was dissolved into 20 ml of acetonitrile. To this was added 215 mg (2.5 mmol) of 3-aminopyrrolidine and the mixture was reacted with heating under refluxing for 7 hours. The reaction mixture was concentrated under reduced pressure and the residue was purified by silica gel column chromatography (chloroform:methanol=100:1-20:1) to obtain 172 mg of light yellow crystals of ethyl 7-(3-amino-1-pyrrolidinyl)-1-(1-chloroprop-2-yl)-6,8-difluoro-1,4-dihydro-4-oxoquinoline-3-carboxylate (Compound No. 1).
