Procedure
6-Chloro-4,1-benzoxazepin-2,5-dione (10.6 g, 50 mmole) in dimethoxyethane (250 ml) was treated with Lawesson's reagent (12.1 g, 30 mmole) and the mixture stirred at room temperature for 24 hours. The solution was filtered and evaporated. The residue in ethyl acetate was washed with sodium bicarbonate solution and dried (Na2SO4). The solution was diluted with hexane and filtered through silica. The filtrate was evaporated to give the product (11.1 g, 97%), m.p. 177°-180° C.
