Reaction Steps

To a solution of methyl 3-(2'-nitroimidazolyl)-2,2-difluoropropionate (10.0 g, 42.5 mmol) in methanol (60 ml), 2,2-difluoro-3-amino-propionic acid amide (10.4 g, 83.8 mmol) was added and reacted for 20 hours at a room temperature while stirring. Then, insoluble fraction was filtered off from the reaction mixture. The filtrate was concentrated, subjected to silica gel column chromatography and recrystallized from ethanol to obtain 3-[3'-(2"-nitroimidazolyl)-2',2'-difluoropropionylamino]-2,2-difluoropropionic acid amide (4.98 g). m.p. 134.5°-135.5° C.
