Demethylation of (120) prepared as described in example 233 with BBr3 using the procedure described in example 80 except that the reaction time was 16 h gave (121) as a yellow powder (64%), mp 143–148° C. (dec). 1H NMR δ [(CD3)2SO] 11.05 (s, 1H), 9.35 (s, 1H), 8.36 (d, J=2.4 Hz, 1H), 7.74 (t, J=5.6 Hz, 1H), 7.71 (s, 1H), 7.60–7.55 (m, 2H), 7.52–7.43 (m, 3H), 7.13 (dd, J=8.8, 2.4 Hz, 1H), 4.67 (t, J=6.3 Hz, 2H), 3.40 (t, J=4.7 Hz, 4H), 2.98 (m, 2H), 2.57 (t, J=6.3 Hz, 2H), 2.12 (t, J=4.7 Hz, 4H), 2.02 (t, J=6.7 Hz, 1H).
