Procedure
3.96 g of the 4,4'-dimethoxybenzophenone O-(1-cyano-3-ethoxycarbonylpropyl)oxime was dissolved in 20 ml of dioxane and 3 ml of a 5N aqueous solution of caustic soda was added thereto. Then the mixture was allowed to react at 60° C. for five hours. After the completion of the reaction, the reaction mixture was acidified and extracted with ethyl acetate. Thus 3.6 g of the title compound was obtained in the form of a colorless oily product.
