| Product | HCID 17958912 | HCID 17958912 | — |
Reaction Steps
2.0 g of 2-[5-(4-chlorophenoxy)pentyl]oxirane-2-carboxylic acid ethyl ester, 6.4 ml of 1 N sodium hydroxide solution and 6.4 ml of tetrahydrofuran are stirred at room temperature until a clear solution has formed (after about one hour). The solution is concentrated to one half of its volume in vacuo and 6.5 ml of 1 N hydrochloric acid are added while cooling with ice. The resulting mixture is extracted 3 times with 20 ml of diethyl ether each time. After drying the combined organic phases over sodium sulfate and evaporating off the solvent 1.65 g of the title compound as a viscous oil are obtained.
