Reaction Steps

A solution of methylester 1200-F (840 mg) in 30 mL of a 2:1 mixture of THF/water was cooled to 0° C. and treated with lithium hydroxide monohydrate (2.5 eq, 166 mg). The mixture was stirred for 10 min and the cooling bath was removed. The reaction was stirred at room temp until all starting material had been consumed as determined by TLC (acetone/hexanes; 3:7). After 2 h, the mixture was treated with aqueous 1M HCl (aprox 50 mL) turning the mixture acidic (pH 2). The mixture was extracted with dichloromethane (3×50 mL). The combined organic layers were dried over magnesium sulfate, filtered and concentrated under reduced pressure to afford the product 1200-G (815 mg-98%) as a white solid.
