To a RT solution of MeOH (30 mL) containing ester 1261-E (4 mmol, 1.1 g) was added aqueous KOH (17.6 mL, 61.7 mmol) and the reaction was brought to 55° C. for 18 hours. Volatile were removed under vacuum and residue was acidified to pH 4 with HCl 1.0N. Diluted with EtOAc and washed with water (2×20 mL) and brine. Organic layer was dried over MgSO4, filtered and concentrated down to give acid 1261-F (1.09 g, 96%).
