Reaction Steps

A mixture of compound (3-chloro-4-methoxy-phenyl)-(4-chloro-6-phenyl-pyrimidin-2-yl)-amine (0.4 g, 1.15 mmol), (PPh3)4Pd (53 mg, 0.05 mmol), copper iodide (11 mg, 0.06 mmol) and triethylamine (0.93 g, 9.23 mmol) in dimethylformamide (10 mL) was stirred at 80° C. for 0.5 hour under nitrogen atmosphere. The mixture was cooled to temperature in the range of 20-40° C. and phenylacetylene (0.24 g, 2.30 mmol) was added to it. The mixture was stirred at 80° C. for 12 hours under nitrogen atmosphere. The mixture was cooled to temperature in the range of 20-40° C., diluted with water (20 mL) and extracted with ethyl acetate (3×15 mL). The organic layers were collected, combined, washed with water (10 mL), dried over anhydrous sodium sulphate and concentrated under vacuum. The residue was purified by column chromatography using ethyl acetate-petroleum ether to give the desired product.
