To a solution of 4-cyclohexyloxybenzaldehyde (2.1 g) in ethanol (50 mL) was added a solution of semicarbazide hydrochloride (1.24 g) and sodium acetate (0.87 g) in water (20 mL) at room temperature. The mixture was stirred for 30 min, and the resulting solid was collected by filtration, washed with water (3×50 mL) and dried in vacuo to yield the title compound as a white solid (2.2 g, 72%), mp: 215 -217° C. 1H NMR (DMSO-d6): δ 10.08 (s, 1H), 7.61 (d, J=8.5, 2H), 6.92 (d, J=8.5, 2H), 6.41 (s, 2H), 4.38 (m, 1H), 1.91-1.24 (m, 10H).
