Reaction Steps

To a solution of the product of Step 2 (0.63 g, 149 mmol) in anhydrous dichloromethane (7 mL) at 0° C. was added N-ethyldiisopropylamine (0.38 g, 0.51 mL, 2.98 mmol) and a solution of 4-methoxybenzenesulfonyl chloride (0.32 g, 1.56 mmol) in anhydrous dichloromethane (2 mL) and the mixture was stirred at ambient temperature under nitrogen atmosphere for 18 hours. The mixture was washed sequentially with 1M hydrochloric acid, sodium bicarbonate/water, brine, dried (sodium sulfate) and concentrated. The residue was chromatographed (silica gel, dichloromethane/methanol, 97:3) to provide the title compound as a thick oil.
