Procedure
When benzene is alkylated with propylene to produce cumene, the reaction is preferably carried out under conditions including a temperature of up to 250° C., e.g., up to 150° C., e.g., from 10° to 125° C.; a pressure of 250 atmospheres or less, e.g., from 1 to 30 atmospheres; and an aromatic hydrocarbon weight hourly space velocity (WHSV) of from 5 hr−1 to 250 hr−1, preferably from 5 hr−1 to 50 hr−.
