Reaction Steps
2.52 g of methyl N-methoxycarbamate in N,N-dimethylformamide (30 ml) was stirred together with 1.15 g of 60% sodium hydride at room temperature for 30 minutes. 1.00 g of 3-bromobenzyl bromide was added dropwise at room temperature, and the resulting solution was stirred for 3 hours. After the reaction, the reaction solution was poured into water and extracted with ethyl acetate, and the organic layer was separated, dried over anhydrous magnesium sulfate and evaporated under reduced pressure for removal of the solvent. The residue was purified by silica gel column chromatography to give 4.99 g of methyl N-methoxy-N-(3-bromobenzyl)carbamate as a transparent viscous liquid.
