tert-Butyl (1R,3R,4S)-4-((S)-3-benzyloxycarbonylamino-2-oxopyrrolidin-1-yl)-3-(phenylthiomethyl)cyclohexylcarbamate (150 mg) was dissolved in EtOH (2 mL) prior to the addition of Raney 2800 nickel (100 mg) in water. The reaction was heated at reflux for 12 h. After cooling to rt, the reaction was concentrated. The resulting residue was purified by flash chromatography to afford tert-butyl (1R,3R,4S)-4-((S)-3-benzyloxycarbonylamino-2-oxopyrrolidin-1-yl)-3-methylcyclohexylcarbamate (64 mg). MS found: (M+H)+=446.4.
