A catalytic amount of benzoylperoxide (0.5 g) was added to a refluxing solution of an equimolar mixture of Example 1d (30 g, 0.134 mol) and N-bromosuccinamide (24 g, 0.134 mol) in dry CCl4 (175 mL) for 1.5 h. The reaction mixture was filtered, concentrated and purified using flash chromatography (silica gel, PE60-80° C.) to obtain the title compound as an oil. Yield: 36 g, (90%); 1H NMR (CDCl3): δ 0.30 (s, 6H, 2CH3), 1.10 (s, 9H, 3CH3), 4.5 (s, 2H, CH2), 6.8-7.5 (m, 4H, Ar).
