To a solution of (5-chloro-4-(4-ethylbenzyl)-2-((2S,3S,4R,5R,6R)-3,4,5-tris(benzyloxy)-6-(benzyloxymethyl)tetrahydro-2H-pyran-2-yl)phenyl)methanol (0.783 g, 1 mmol) (V-1) in toluene (2 mL) was added ADDP (2 mmol) at room temperature. The mixture was stirred for 10 min and then Bu3P (2 mmol) was added. After stirring for 1 h, CF3CH2OH (1.0 g, 10 mmol) was added. The mixture was stirred overnight. After removal of volatiles under reduced pressure, the residue was purified by preparative LC-MS to obtain (2R,3R,4R,5S,6S)-3,4,5-tris(benzyloxy)-2-(benzyloxymethyl)-6-(4-chloro-5-(4-ethylbenzyl)-2-((2,2,2-trifluoroethoxy)methyl)phenyl)tetrahydro-2H-pyran (intermediate V-2).
