To a solution of 3-cyclohex-2-en-1-yl-8-(ethoxycarbonyl)-8-azabicyclo[3.2.1]octane-3-carboxylic acid (1-6) (1.86 g, 6.05 mmol) in MeOH (20.0 mL) was added PtO2 (68.7 mg, 0.30 mmol) and the suspension was placed on a shaker under hydrogen atmosphere (50 psi) overnight. The solid was filtered out and rinsed with MeOH; the resulting solution was concentrated to give (1-7) as white solid.
