Reaction Steps

A solution of ethyl 3-(4-chloro-2-propionylphenyl)-8-azabicyclo[3.2.1]oct-2-ene-8-carboxylate (2-6) (1.50 g, 4.31 mmol,) in 10 mL of ethanol and 10 mL acetic acid was shaken under hydrogen at 1 atmospheric pressure with platinum oxide (980 mg, 0.431 mmol, added in portions) for 60 h at room temperature. Solid was filtered through a pad of Celite and rinsed with ethanol. The ethanol solution was concentrated to give (2-7) as colorless oil.
